Hello, I live in sweden and i often watch Top Gear. Unfortunately i can only view it in 4:3 format. Are you transmitting 4:3? In forced 16:9, JC get really Fat! My provider is comhem and they say they transmit what they get. So...?

BBC

Dear Håkan,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We are planning to update all our BBC Worldwide channels to widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) but as we are sure you can appreciate this takes time. It is our ambition to have all of our BBC channels in the 16:9 / widescreen format before the end of the year and we are pleased to confirm that BBC Lifestyle in the Nordic region converted to widescreen on 1 May 2013.

Please note that while the channels will convert to widescreen, some shows such as ‘Allo Allo’, will remain in the “old format” known as 4:3, as this is how these shows were originally shot.

Thank you for contacting us.

Why have stoped subtitel to Allan Carr Chatty man in Sweden

BBC

Dear Bengt,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment in the Nordic region.

Unfortunately some episodes of Alan Carr: Chatty Man were broadcast without Swedish subtitles in error and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this caused. Swedish subtitles should now be provided for all future transmissions of this series.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

Anders

Hello!

First of all let me start by saying that in my view BBC produces and offers some of the highest standard programmes and television services that I'm aware of and I know that many Swedes and other Scandinavians agree on this.

I have a few questions regarding the BBC channels that are offered via cable in Scandinavia.

I would like to know if Top Gear (the original UK version) is broadcasted on all channels that are available for the Nordic viewers (i.e. Entertainment, Knowledge and BBC HD)? Can I watch the current season of this programme on any of these channels?

Secondly, I would like to know if there are any sporting events broadcasted on these channels? For instance, I would love to be able to watch the Wimbledon Tennis Championships via BBC. I used to be able to watch Wimbledon via Swedish public service television, but sadly they only show glimpses nowadays.

Thanks in advance.

Best, Anders

BBC

Dear Anders,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

Firstly, we are delighted to read of your appreciation for BBC Worldwide, its channels and programmes.

Turning to your question about Top Gear, this hugely popular programme is regularly shown on BBC Entertainment and BBC Knowledge in the Nordic region. For details of which series and episodes are available we would recommend that you use the “search for a programme” section on the website and if you enter Top Gear into this box it will bring up information and scheduling details for this series on our channels and we do hope this is helpful for you. May we also take this opportunity to mention that Top Gear series 18 will be premiering on BBC Entertainment from 7 July 2013.

Regarding your second question, we do not have any imminent plans to broadcast sporting events such as this year’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship on our channels in the Nordic region, but we will note your interest that you would like to see sporting events on our channels in the future.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us and for your interest in our programmes.

Will there be more Gok Wan on BBC Nordic channels anytime soon? I'm waiting for his brand new shows Gok's Style Secrets, Gok Cooks Chinese and Baggage, all from Channel 4 UK. Gok is more than Fashion Fix. They should be on both BBC Entertainment and BBC Lifestyle.

BBC

Dear Carolina,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We are happy to note your interest in programmes with Gok Wan. Unfortunately we do not currently have plans to show most of the titles you mention, but we are grateful for your requests and we will pass them on to the relevant department. You will be pleased to know there will be another opportunity to see Gok's Clothes Roadshow on BBC Lifestyle from 24 May, and we hope you continue watching Gok's Fashion Fix. You can find more information about both programmes including detailed scheduling information on the Gok Wan site on our website. We also hope you might enjoy our recent premieres Come Dine With Me: Supersized series 7 on BBC Entertainment and Food & Drink on BBC Lifestyle, as well as another opportunity to see Design Rules, on BBC Lifestyle from 19 May.

Why are almost all your programes transmitted through Canal Digital Kabel in Norway in such a crappy format? I have a modern 16/9 format TV, most norwegians have these days, they've been on the market for almost 10 years, why do I have to watch all the BBC programs in 4/3 format? Old programs produced in 4/3 are OK, but don't tell me that you still make programs these days in 4/3 format? What can we do to have this rectified. I do not want to watch only part of the programs and with black curtains on the side. Why is Canal Digital transmitting this way? Please rectify as sson as possible please.

BBC

Dear Torbjørn,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

As you may be aware we are planning to update all our BBC Worldwide channels to widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio), and as you can understand this takes time. We are pleased to confirm that BBC HD has always been broadcast in the 16:9 / widescreen format, and that on 1 May 2013 BBC Lifestyle in the Nordic region converted to widescreen as well. It is our ambition to have all of our BBC channels in the 16:9 / widescreen format before the end of the year, although we appreciate that you would have liked it to happen sooner. Please note that while the channels will convert to widescreen, as you mention in your message some of the programmes will remain in the “old format” known as 4:3, as this is how these shows were originally shot. If you are experiencing any issues with incorrect aspect ratio, please check the settings on your television set and set-top box, and if that does not help, you may wish to contact your operator. However if the problem persists, do contact us again with more details regarding the time and date of transmission and name of the programme.

Recently some of the programs on Lifestyle, Entertainment and Knowledge, as Bargain Hunt is in 4:3 format. Earlier this programs were in full screen. The programs was as old or older than the programs you show today, yet they were transmitted from you in full screen format. Why have you changed this? I would like to get full screen format back. I also think you must renew yourself. So many of the programs have been shown over and over again. Every program must have been sent at all times of the day/night at least 2 or 3 times. This is annoying for us who like to look at the BBC channels. We can look at the reruns only so many times. I also think you should stick more to english programs. The american programs, like Extreme Makeover, is so over the top, just can't take all the shouting and screaming. It's so annoying. Also you have shown all the episodes x times. I also think the commercials on Entertainment is a pain. In a short program like Dragons Den you have 2 long commercial breaks. Not good. I travel to England many times during the year, and wiew BBC when I'm there. I like the original channels much more. Why don't you show more of the newer programs I've seen there, like Antiques Road Trip. I do like BBC, but start to get tired of what you present to your european wiewers. You are underestimating us.

BBC

Dear Berit,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

From 1 May 2013 BBC Lifestyle in the Nordic region converted to widescreen, and we plan to convert the other channels by the end of the year and we are making this change as the vast majority of programmes you will see on our channels will have been produced in this format.

You mention in your message that some programmes have been shown a number of times. As with all cable and satellite channels, repeats are a feature of most schedules and this is welcomed by those viewers who don't watch the same channel every day and, due to the multi-channel environment, often miss complete series.

Whilst not British, Extreme Makeover attracts a large amount of viewers in the Nordic region and in the many regions across the globe in which it is shown. We do appreciate that you are not a personal fan of this show and we hope that you enjoy some of the other programmes we have on the channel such as Dragons’ Den, Would I Lie To You?, The Graham Norton Show and Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

As you may have read on the website, the introduction of advertising to BBC Entertainment in Norway is a decision that we have carefully considered and we can assure you it will not compromise the integrity and quality of the programmes you are used to and enjoy watching. We know our viewers value the best of British content on BBC Entertainment, and the revenues generated through advertising will allow us to invest in even more of these programmes.

We very much appreciate your feedback and for taking the time and trouble to contact us and we do hope that you will continue to watch BC Worldwide Channels.

I'm so bored with this BBCentertainment subscription. WHY do air QI, the Dragon's Den and Graham Norton shows OVER AND OVER AGAIN? and why don't we get to see WATERLOO ROAD? and why are your repeats during the days NOT the better shows rather than the boring ones mentioned above? BBC Ent. YOU USED to be my most favorite channel, but I'm highly disappointed in your choices; most seriously upset that you're repeating the junk programs and not the most enjoyable and most family-friendly shows. And too, do u have to keep showing so MANY episodes of My Family? THIS is getting me to the point of hating your channel. It's as if those in charge do not give a darn who's watching it or whether or not it's being watched at all, esp. by loyal fans of many years. :(

BBC

Dear Clclark,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment in the Nordic region.

We are glad to hear you have been a loyal viewer of our channel and very sorry that you feel so disappointed with our recent programming and scheduling. You may be aware that we are currently giving viewers another chance to see series 4 of Waterloo Road, on BBC Entertainment Tuesdays to Fridays at 05:05 until 28 May. Although we have no current plans to show a new series of Waterloo Road we have noted your interest in the series.

The shows that you mention in your message are hugely popular with a large portion of our audience who often enjoy seeing episodes they may have missed the first time they were shown, or enjoy watching episodes more than once. Rather than scheduling episodes from the same series, we frequently broadcast episodes from a number of series and in the next month we will be showing a range of episodes of from series 1-3, 5, 6 of Dragons' Den, 2 and 9-11 of My Family, 2-9 of QI and 8, 9, 12 of The Graham Norton Show. We schedule premieres and new series in the primetime slots, which means that older series are often repeated elsewhere in the schedule. We are sorry to hear that you feel we are not listening to our viewers’ opinions. We can assure you that this is not the case. We always welcome programme requests, and all the comments that we receive are shared with the team responsible for compiling our schedules. Feedback from regular viewers such as yourself is really important to us as we are always keen to know how our programming is being received, so we are grateful for your comments and we thank you for taking the time to write to us.

We do hope you will enjoy some of our many upcoming premieres, such as series 2 of Sherlock, from 6 July, series 4 of Green Green Grass, from 26 July, as well as many programmes currently showing on BBC Entertainment, such as Doctor Who and comedies like Keeping Up Appearances, The Royal Bodyguard and Twenty Twelve. You can find detailed scheduling information in our TV schedule. We hope that you continue to watch our channel.

Hi, when will BBC Entertainment in Norway be airing season 13 of the Graham Norton Show? More specifically episode 5 from that season?

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

You will be pleased to know that series 13 of The Graham Norton Show will be shown on BBC Entertainment in July. Meanwhile we hope you are enjoying the new episodes from series 12, currently premiering on Tuesdays at 22:00 on BBC Entertainment.
