why could I not just pay a bbc tv licence and watch bbc online in norway as I would do in England

BBC

Dear John,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We note your suggestion, however it is not possible to access BBC programmes online by purchasing a UK TV licence. You may, however, be interested to learn of developments in the Global iPlayer, which allows users who pay a monthly subscription to access to a range of current and classic BBC programmes. This service is not currently available in Norway, but we are in the process of a phased rollout as part of strategy to build the service carefully and information will be released when the Global iPlayer becomes available in more countries.

Thank you for contacting us.

The BBC's Panorama programme is an example of invstigative journalisim at it's best. I know it is shown on BBC World News, however, the scheduling could be improved to reach a bigger audience. Saturday mornings and nights aren't good enough. How about bringing Panorama to BBC Knowledge and BBC HD and airing it with Swedish and other Nordic languages subtitles? These channels deserve high quality programming and the very best the BBC can offer.

BBC

Dear Sebastian,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We are pleased to read that you are a fan of Panorama on BBC World News, and while we don't currently have any plans to show this series on BBC Knowledge or BBC HD we will note your request.

We do hope you will enjoy some of the fantastic programmes we have coming up on BBC Knowledge and BBC HD in the Nordic region this month, including Targeting Bin Laden and Frontline Medicine on BBC Knowledge and Human Planet and Origins of Us on BBC HD.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us as we very much appreciate viewers getting in touch with their feedback.

How about bringing Mrs. Browns's Boys to BBC Entertainment? I think it's a uniquely funny sitcom and it would suit BBC Entertainment perfectly. I know it's Irish and not British but anyway it's too funny not to be shown in Scandinavia.

Lars-Gösta

When will you make BBC Entertainment available in HD widescreen? I'm used to watching HD channels and a lot of the shows on BBC Entertainment are not available on BBC HD yet. More and more channels are becoming available in HD quality.

I'd love to see EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, Alan Carr: Chattyman and Gramham Norton Show in HD.

BBC

Dear Lars-Gösta,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We are glad to hear you enjoy many of our programmes and we have noted your request for BBC Entertainment to be broadcast in widescreen and in HD. Turning first to your enquiry about widescreen, we are planning to update all our BBC Worldwide channels to widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio), and as you can understand this takes time. It is our ambition to have all of our BBC channels in the 16:9/widescreen format by the end of the year and we are pleased to confirm that BBC Lifestyle in the Nordic region converted to widescreen on 1 May 2013. As you may be aware, we do have a BBC HD channel in the Nordic region and programmes that have been produced in 16:9 and in HD quality will be broadcast in these formats and we do broadcast many entertainment shows on BBC HD in both widescreen and HD, including series of Doctor Who filmed after April 2009. Please note however that even when all our channels covert to widescreen, including BBC Entertainment, some shows such as ‘Allo ‘Allo will remain in the 4:3 format as this is how these shows were originally filmed.

Great to see Dr Who back on on Fridays, but why don't you repeat it like every other programme, at least four times? Your greatest series,Last of the summer wine, why is that only on very early in the mornings (CET), and you don't repeat THAT either! Whereas Q.I., although very good, and Top Gear is repeated incessantly!

BBC

Dear Andy,

Thank you for your message to BBC Entertainment in the Nordic region.

We are pleased to read that you are enjoying Doctor Who series 6 and to ensure that fans of this hugely popular show will have an opportunity to watch episodes at a time convenient for them, we have scheduled each episode to be shown at different parts of the day. For example, this Friday's premiere episode of Doctor Who series 6, episode 3 will be shown at the followings dates and times:

10 May at 17:30 11 May at 05:10 11 May at 11:55 12 May at 00:30 12 May at 08:05

We also note your comments that you would prefer Last Of The Summer Wine to be scheduled in a different timeslot and that you also feel QI and Top Gear are repeated too frequently. We very much appreciate your feedback about our programmes and how they are scheduled and this will be made available to the appropriate team.

Thank you for contacting us.

Hello. I was very happy when I got this channel on my cable tv, without any kind of commercial in the middle of the program. When you started doing that I was very sad and this channel is not my favorite anymore. sorry to day that but I think you "destroyed" my feelings in a way. Regards, Inger

BBC

Dear Inger,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

The introduction of advertising to BBC Entertainment in Norway is a decision that we have carefully considered and we can assure you it will not compromise the integrity and quality of the programmes you are used to and enjoy watching. We know our viewers value the best of British content on BBC Entertainment, and the revenues generated through advertising will allow us to invest in even more of these programmes.

We very much appreciate your feedback and for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

Lose those stupid bbc "commercials" during the programme....

Robert

4:3 vs 16:9. I would like to congratulate all of BBC channels (except for BBC HD) for broadcasting in the much older and much more trusted 4:3 format. It's a pity that the technical advancements makes it impossible to broadcast in the 4:3 format on the BBC HD channel. All your programs looks so much better when zoomed, and stretched beyond recognition on a modern flat-screen television set. There is probably about 100 television sets or so in the Nordic region that are still in 4:3 format, so it's very good that these users will get a proper picture on there sets. All other people have to adjust. What time is it? Ohh my god it's 2013! Sorry to wake you up.

BBC

Dear Robert,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

We are grateful for your further comments about the aspect ratio on our channels. As you mention in your message, on the majority of our standard definition channels we broadcast programmes in 4:3 format, but all of our BBC HD channels are transmitted in 16:9 ratio, and you will be pleased to know that BBC Lifestyle in the Nordic region is switching to 16:9 in May. We are also looking into the possibility of using this format for all of our channels in the future.

Charlotte

Hello my name is Charlotte and I really like the Deal Or No Deal show. I was wondering whether or not you would send the show again, please? And if you do, when can I expect it?

BBC

Dear Charlotte,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in the Nordic region.

Unfortunately for fans of Deal Or No Deal we no longer have the rights to show this series on BBC Entertainment in the Nordic region and there are no plans for this series to return to the channel in the foreseeable future. We do hope that you will find other programmes to enjoy on BBC Entertainment in place of Deal Or No Deal.

We very much appreciate feedback from our viewers and we thank you for contacting us.

Best wishes,
