To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing, BBC Earth will be showcasing a number of programmes to commemorate the historic event.

The celebrations begin with 8 Days: To the Moon and Back which documents the crucial scenes of the Apollo 11 moon mission, as original archive footage is seamlessly blended with newly shot film to create a giant leap for documentary storytelling.

The special weekend of programming also features Moon Landing Live which uses exclusive Nasa footage to portray the scale of the Apollo 11 mission, as well as showing the global reaction when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first astronauts to walk on the Moon.

Stargazing completes the commemorative weekend, which provides viewers with the latest news and best views of the night sky.
