NAME OF COMPETITION

“BBC Nordic Summer Holiday Photo Competition 2026” (the “Competition”).

METHOD OF ENTRY & COMPETITION TERMS

Entry is free of charge via the following BBC Nordic Social Media Pages:

(together, the “BBC Nordic Social Media Pages”).

To enter the Competition, an individual meeting the eligibility requirements set out at clause 3 (an “Entrant”) must, during the Competition Period (as set out below), either:

  • send their photograph(s) by direct message to one of the BBC Nordic Social Media Pages.

(each, an “Entry”)

Multiple Entries (and therefore the submission of multiple photographs) are permitted.

Entrants must have a valid Facebook or Instagram account (as applicable to their method of entry) throughout the entire Competition Window.

The Competition will be open from 00:00 Wednesday 01 July 2026 to 23:59 Saturday 15 August 2026 inclusive (the “Competition Period”). All times and dates referred to in these terms and conditions are in Central European Summer Time (CEST).

SPECIFIC RESTRICTIONS

Entrants must be over 18 (eighteen) years of age at the date of entering the Competition and must be resident in one of the following countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland or Finland. Employees of BBCSD and their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Competition. Any Entries received outside of the Competition Period (for whatever reason) will be invalid.

Entrants must have a valid Facebook or Instagram account (as applicable to their method of entry) throughout the entire Competition, from 01 July 2026 to 20 August 2026 (the “Competition Window”) to be eligible to win (so that Winners may be contacted). If Entrants do not have a valid Facebook or Instagram account throughout the Competition Window, they will forfeit their right to the Prize.

Any Entry that is unclear, incomplete, defaced, corrupt, illegal or misdirected will not be accepted. BBCSD accepts no responsibility for lost Entries, and proof of transmission of Entry will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted, and joint submissions are not allowed.

BBCSD accepts no liability for any invalid, incomplete Entries or Entries not received by BBCSD. No ‘bots’ or similar automated third-party software will be allowed and anyone found using such software will be disqualified.

Entries submitted by any method other than the BBC Nordic Social Media Pages will not be accepted.

By submitting an Entry to the Competition, an Entrant is declaring that:

  • it is their own original work;
  • they own the rights to it;
  • they have obtained the prior consent of any individual(s) clearly identifiable in the Entry (BBCSD reserves the right to request evidence of such consent);
  • no prominent brands, logos or trademarks are visible;
  • they have read and understood these terms & conditions; and
  • they agree to fully indemnify BBCSD against any actual or threatened claims or actions BBCSD may be subject to in relation to their Entry.

Entries that are deemed to be inappropriate and inconsistent with the spirit and theme of the Competition (including use of explicit language or content of an offensive nature) will be disqualified. Entries must not contain anything that could be viewed as indecent, inappropriate, defamatory, unlawful, offensive or represent a danger to health and safety. Any Entry that is found, at any time, to breach these terms and conditions or that otherwise contains prohibited, inappropriate or unlawful content as determined by BBCSD, in its sole discretion, will be disqualified. BBCSD shall have the right to remove an Entry from the BBC Nordic Social Media Pages at its discretion.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All entries must be the original work of the Entrant and must not contravene the rights of third parties. By entering the Competition, the Entrant grants to BBCSD a perpetual, sub-licensable, irrevocable, non-exclusive licence to use the work for all purposes connected with the Competition, including but not limited to post-promotion publicity.

WINNER SELECTION

After the close of the Competition Period, all valid Entries will be reviewed by a judging panel comprising of BBC marketing and creative employees alongside an independent, professional photographer. The judging panel will select the Winning Photographs based on the following criteria:

  • creativity and originality;
  • composition and overall visual quality;
  • the extent to which the photograph inspires a sense of adventure, nature and exploration; and
  • how effectively the photograph captures the spirit of summer travel (e.g. from breathtaking landscapes and hidden gems to cultural encounters and unexpected travel moments).

The decision of BBCSD is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

PRIZES

There will be a maximum of ten (10) winning photographs (each a “Winning Photograph”). Each Entrant whose Entry is selected as a Winning Photograph will be a “Winner”.

Each Winner will:

  • have their Winning Photograph(s) featured on the BBC Nordic television channel and BBC Nordic Social Media Pages (together, the “BBC Nordic Channels”); and
  • receive one (1) BBC Nordic branded backpack.

(the “Prize”)

For the avoidance of doubt, an Entrant may have more than one of their Entries selected as Winning Photographs. In such circumstances, each Winning Photograph may be featured on the BBC Nordic Channels, however the Winner will receive only one (1) BBC Nordic branded backpack.

The Winning Photographs will be awarded at BBCSD’s discretion, and no Prize will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of an Entrant.

WINNER CONTACT

Winners will be contacted within one (1) business day following the end of the Competition Period via direct message on the social media platform through which they submitted their Entry (the “Prize Message”), notifying them that they have a Winning Photograph(s) and have therefore won the Prize.

The Prize Message will request that the Winner responds within two (2) business days of receipt to:

  • confirm that they meet and agree to the conditions set out at clause 3(i)–(vi); and
  • provide their full name and residential address for the purposes of delivery of the BBC Nordic branded backpack.

The Prize Message will only ever be sent to Winners by BBCSD via its official Facebook or Instagram account. BBCSD will never request payment, bank details, or credit card information in connection with the Competition.

A Winner must respond and complete the steps outlined in the Prize Message by 19 August 2026. Failure to contact the Prize Provider within the timeline stipulated may result in the Prize being forfeited and an alternate Winner being selected. Entrants must have a valid Facebook or Instagram account (as applicable to their method of entry) throughout the entire Competition Window to be able to receive the Prize. BBCSD will not be liable if any Prize fails to reach you or you cannot receive it for reasons beyond BBCSD’s control.

WINNER CONTACT

Entry to the Competition gives BBCSD the right, without separate consent or compensation, to use each Winning Photograph on the BBC Nordic Channels.

By submitting an Entry, Entrants acknowledge that their Facebook or Instagram profile name (as applicable to their method of entry) will be visible to BBCSD, and that such profile may include an Entrant’s personal data, including their name and any other information made available on that profile in accordance with the Entrant’s account settings. Further, each Winner will be required to provide their full name and residential address to BBCSD so that the Winner can receive their Prize. These details will only be used by BBCSD for the purpose of administration of this Competition.
